What are the benefits of being an NBCT in AZ?

Some Arizona school districts pay a stipend to National Board Certified Teachers. Check with an NBCT you know, or with your school principal or school district administrator, to see if stipends are available.

State Recognition    

Arizona recognizes National Board Certification through its licensure requirements. National Board Certified Teachers receive the same certificate as non-NBCTs, but for many NBCTs, the content knowledge and/or the professional knowledge tests are waived. National Board Certification is a means of meeting the professional growth requirement for renewal of the state license.                           

Educational Credits              

Universities frequently provide graduate credit to teachers pursuing National Board Certification. Check with your local university to see if graduate credit is a possibility for you. Interested candidates also can contact the Arizona K12 Center for more information.
