What are the benefits of being an NBCT in GA?

Previously, National Board Certified Teachers received a 10% state increase, however this was cut back in 2009 as part of state budget trimming. Currently, some districts may offer offer a salary bonus to NBCTs. Check with your principal or district administrator to see if a salary bonus is a possibility for you.

State Recognition    

National Board Certification can count as credit toward meeting Georgia’s requirements for obtaining and renewing a professional certificate or an advanced professional certificate.

Educational Credits               

Some universities provide graduate credit to teachers pursuing National Board Certification in Georgia. Make sure to check with your local university to see if graduate credit is a possibility for you.
