What are the benefits of being an NBCT in IN?
Indiana NBCT Financial Incentives
Many states and local districts offer bonuses for candidates who complete National Board Certification. According to the Indiana State teachers Association, there are a variety of financial support resources to help Indiana teachers achieve National Board Certification.
State Recognition
National Board Certification is recognized in the state of Indiana. This means that NB Certification fulfills the requirements for renewing an Indiana educator license. NBCTs can submit a copy of their National Board certificate to the state through the Indiana Department of Education's Licensing Verification and Information System, or LVIS.
Educational Credits
Some universities in Indiana provide graduated credit to teachers who are pursuing National Board Teacher status. Be sure to check with your local Indiana university to see if this is an option for you to receive this graduate credit.
NBPTS Support Options
Indiana NBPTS support for teachers mainly comes from the Indiana State Teachers Association, however since Candidate Support Providers can be found nationally many teachers are seeking support outside of their state. One such provider includes Tracey Bryant Stuckey having helped 500+ teachers virtually since 2019. Tracey offers programs for Initial Certification for Component 3 and Component 4 and the Maintenance of Certification for Renewal Candidates called Renew Like a Pro.
