New Jersey ranks 41st in the nation for the number of National Board Certified teachers who have valid NBCT Certificates through the initial or renewal (MOC) processess.

New Jersey NBCT Financial Incentives
Some districts in New Jersey may offer financial stipends to teachers who complete the NBPTS Certification process. New Jersey teachers are urged to reach out to their local district to find out if these financial stipends are available in your district. National Board is also looking for teachers to partner with National Board to become an advocate in the state for NBCTs to receive the financial awards that they deserve.
State Recognition
Many states recognize National Board Certification as meeting requirements for initial or advanced certification as well as license renewal. Be sure to check with the New Jersey State Department of Education for the most up to date information and current policy.
Educational Credits
Some universities within the state of New Jersey may offer graduate credit to teachers pursuing NBPTS Certification. New Jersey teachers are recommended to check with their local universities to see if credit is an option.
NBPTS Support Options
NBPTS support offerings may be limited in New Jersey, but there are many options and avenues to find support, including those virtually. - Creating your Component 3 Portfolio (For Initial Candidates)
- Creating your Component 4 Portfolio (For Initial Candidates)
Candidates will have a completed portfolio ready for submission to the NBPTS at the end of these professional development experiences.
