Oregon is number 38 in the nation for the number of National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) within the state. This includes both initial and renewal candidates through the Maintenance of Certification process.

What are the benefits of being an NBCT in OR?

Oregon NBCT Financial Incentives                 

Excitingly, a growing number of Oregon school districts are providing support and stipends for National Board Certified Teachers. These are included in their collective bargaining agreements. Be sure to check with the  principal, district administrator or state association to see if these financial incentives apply to your school or district.

State Recognition    

As with a number of states, National Board Certification does count toward renewing a professional teaching license or earning a distinguished teaching license.                     

Educational Credits               

Some universities in Oregon provide graduate credit to teachers who are pursuing the National Board Certification for Teachers. Be sure to check with your local Oregon university to see if the specific institution offers these graduate credits.

NBPTS Support Options

NBPTS support offerings are available in the state of Oregon. In fact a number of districts offer local support, however if you district does not offer support for NBPTS or you are looking for something different, you are invited to take part in Renew Like a Pro. This Professional Development program is for those completing the NB MOC process, which offers collaboration and guidance to teachers across the United States. Oregon teachers wanting support with the initial NBPTS certification, are invited to join one or both of Tracey Bryant Stuckey's Initial Certification Courses for Component 3 or Component 4 Each program is designed to be completed in 12 weeks  with guidance from asynchronous learning videos to the ability to add on and attend synchronous LIVE group coaching sessions. At the end of each program, teachers will have a completed portfolio ready to submit to the National Board Portal when it opens for submission.
