What are the benefits of being an NBCT in SC?
South Carolina NBCT Financial Incentives
South Carolina offers new NBCTs who apply prior to the stated deadline (check with your district or state for specific deadlines) an annual salary supplement of $5,000 for the life of the certificate. This however is contingent on being employed in a supplement-eligible position.
State Recognition
National Board Certification can count as credit toward obtaining a professional certificate and toward certificate renewal.This is beneficial with transferring to South Carolina to teach, as well as maintain certification.
Educational Credits
Universities frequently provide graduate credit to teachers pursuing National Board Certification. Check with your local university to see if graduate credit is a possibility for you. Currently, the South Carolina Department of Education does not accept graduate school credits for National Board Certificate.
